FACILITIES
Health Centre :
The college
has a health centre which is open to the neighbourhood
also. Activities like vaccination, health awareness
campaign etc. are also carried out from the Centre in
addition to regwar medical assistance. The college’s
N.C.C. wing works hand-in-hand in such ventures. A unit
of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) operates
from the Health Centre thereby upgrading the facilities.
N.C.C. :
The college has a total strength of 214 N.C.C. cadets
comprising one Company of 1 Assam BN. N.C.C. and 60
Assam girls’ BN. N.C.C. The cadets have made the college
proud by representing the North Eastern Region in
different national level camps and N.C.C. activities in
many parts of the country. Many of our cadets have
represented the nation in prestigious international
meets as part of Youth Exchange Programme. By obtaining
‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates, a sizeable nos. of students
has enrolled themselves in different grades of the three
services of the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India.
Community development, personality development,
adventure training, YEP, institutional training,
shooting, map reading etc. are being taught to the
cadets in the regular Sunday classes in the college.
N.S.S. :
The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is an organisation
which provides opportunity to students to develop their
personality through community service. The motto of the
National Service Scheme is ‘NOT ME, BUT YOU’. It
underlines that the welfare of an individual is
ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a
whole.
The college has a strong and vibrant N.S.S. unit which
is actively engaged in various community services.
Efforts are regularly taken to involve student
volunteers for keeping the college campus pollution free
and clean. Annual camp in neighbourhood rural areas are
organised for community development.
It may be mentioned that our N.S.S. cadets have received
the prestigious Indira Gandhi National N.S.S. Award
thrice. Our N.S.S. cadets have been even selected to
represent the nation abroad. The college N.S.S. has an
adopted village ‘Mainakhurong’ situated near the famous
Ramsar site, Deepor Beel.
Lectures, Competitions and Seminars :
Different types of lectures and seminars are held in the
college.
(i) Giridhar Sarma Memorial Lecture is held annually
under the auspices of the - "Teachers unit" of the
college.
(ii) Annual All Assam Banikanta Memorial inter-College
Debating Competition.
(iii) Debananda Saikia Memorial inter-Hostel Debate
Competition.
(iv) Departmental Lecture and Seminars are held
regularly. Moreover, experts in different fields are
invited to deliver talks.
(v) UGC sponsored seminars are held from time to time.
(vi) Lectures and Seminars are organised on Value-Based
Education.
Research Committee :
The college has Research Committee which approves
projects submitted by the teachers and forward them to
appropriate authorities. Research Workers keep national
and international linkage for their research work.

The college has a workshop under the
Physics department, where a course on ‘Machine Shop’ is
imparted
Students’ Union :
The college has a General Body of the students known as
Arya Vidyapeeth College Students’ Union of which every
student shall be a member. The office bearers of this
Students’ Union are annually elected by the students
from amongst the regular students of H.S. 1st year, TDC
1st year and 2nd year classes only. Casual students are
not eligible to become office bearers of the Students’
Union and also part of the election process.
College Magazine :
The college magazine Aryan is the
medium for developing literary and other potentials of
the students. It publishes articles and creative
writings contributed by students and teachers.
College Bulletin :
The college has a half yearly News Bulletin - Vision
- wherein news of different activities and achievements
of students and teachers are published.
Wall Magazines :
Every department of the college
publish their own individual wall magazine periodically
with the contribution from both teachers and students.
College Notice Board :
Students should, in their own interest, look everyday at
all the notices displayed on the Notice Boards both
general as well as departmental.
Grievance Redressal Cell :
The college has a Grievance Redressal Cell. Students can
submit their grievances and suggestions in a box kept in
the office of the Vice Principal for their proper
redressal.

Students’ Travelling Concession :
Students are entitled to Students’
Concession on production of Identity Card for their home
journey and back during vacation only.
College Canteen :
The college has a canteen within the college campus.
Right to Information ACT :
In honour of the Act, the college has
constituted the Right to Information (RTI) cell. The
Vice-Principal is entrusted with the responsibilities of
implementing the Act when requisitioned.
